Woking’s Rout, Forest Green’s Grit, and Southend’s Surge Steal the Show: National League Summaries for 6th September 2025

Boreham Wood 3-0 Morecambe: Wood Roll On as Shrimps Sink

Boreham Wood extended their unbeaten run to six with a 3-0 thumping of rock-bottom Morecambe at Mangata Pay UK Stadium. Lewis Richardson opened the scoring in the 7th minute, slotting in Érico Sousa’s pass like he was posting a letter.

Matt Rush stole the show with a curling beauty on 36 minutes and a tap-in from Cameron Coxe’s cross on 66 minutes.

Morecambe’s Terrell Agyemang saw red before half-time for two yellows, leaving the Shrimps floundering like fish in a net. Luke Garrard’s side are a force to be reckoned with.

Boston United 1-2 Solihull Moors: Wakeling’s Double Breaks the Duck

Solihull Moors nabbed their first win of the season, edging Boston United 2-1 at The Jakemans Community Stadium.

Jacob Wakeling’s 15th-minute screamer hit the crossbar and went in, but Jordy Hiwula levelled for Boston United on 43 minutes via George Sloggett’s assist.

Wakeling, not one for sharing the limelight, powered through for the 78th-minute winner, leaving Boston United’s defence looking like they’d been outrun by a turbo-charged postie. Solihull Moors’ relief was palpable, while Boston United need to regroup.

Carlisle United 3-0 Truro City: Armstrong’s Quickfire Double Sinks Travellers

Carlisle United cruised to a 3-0 win over Truro City at Brunton Park, making the Cornish side’s 900-mile round trip feel like a trek to Narnia.

Luke Armstrong bagged a brace in the 10th and 12th minutes, first tapping in Stephen Wearne’s cross, then pouncing on a defensive blunder.

Regan Linney’s 60th-minute stunner sealed it, with Truro City’s Aidan Stone saving face with a late stop. Carlisle United’s second straight win keeps them flying, while Truro City’s long drive home was grim.

Forest Green Rovers 1-0 Hartlepool United: Mitchell Keeps Rovers Top

Forest Green Rovers stayed top with a 1-0 win over Hartlepool United at The Bolt New Lawn.

Kairo Mitchell’s 23rd-minute strike was enough, with keeper Luke McNicholas thwarting Besart Topalloj and Danny Johnson to keep a clean sheet.

Hartlepool United’s Harvey Cartwright was busier than a barista at rush hour, denying Nick Haughton twice, but Pools’ lack of bite cost them. Forest Green Rovers’ six wins from eight games set a high bar for the chasing pack.

Rochdale 2-0 Braintree Town: Dieseruvwe’s Double Keeps Dale Flying

Rochdale continued their hot streak with a 2-0 win over Braintree Town at Crown Oil Arena.

Emmanuel Dieseruvwe nodded in Tarryn Allarakhia’s cross on 26 minutes and pounced on Mason Terry’s botched clearance on 32 minutes for his fourth goal in three games.

Braintree Town, winless in four, had Terry to thank for denying a hat-trick, but John Akinde’s late effort was stopped by Oliver Whatmuff.

Rochdale’s promotion push looks strong.

Scunthorpe United 2-1 Wealdstone: Match Abandoned Amid Controversy

Scunthorpe United led Wealdstone 2-1 at Attis Arena when the game was abandoned after Wealdstone’s Daniel Nkrumah suffered a shoulder injury in stoppage time.

Enzio Boldewijn’s 6th-minute strike was overturned by Alfie Beestin’s cracking volley (31’) and Danny Whitehall’s header (39’). Wealdstone’s refusal to continue sparked fury from Scunthorpe United’s Andy Butler, who wants the result to stand.

The league’s call is pending.

Southend United 3-0 Halifax Town: Shrimpers Sink 10-Man Shaymen

Southend United romped to a 3-0 win over Halifax Town at Roots Hall. Andy Dallas headed in Gus Scott-Morriss’ cross on 31 minutes, and Halifax Town’s Adam Alimi-Adetoro saw red on 69 minutes for two yellows.

Late headers from Scott-Morriss and Ben Goodliffe sealed Southend United’s fifth league win, leaving Halifax Town chasing shadows.

The Shrimpers’ attacking zip keeps them firmly in the promotion mix.

Tamworth 1-0 Eastleigh: Duku Delivers in Feisty Clash

Tamworth notched back-to-back wins with a 1-0 victory over Eastleigh at The Lamb Ground.

Eastleigh’s Temitope Eweka was sent off on 30 minutes for felling Manny Duku, whose penalty was saved by Nick Townsend. Duku had the last laugh, heading in Haydn Sayer’s corner on 49 minutes. Tamworth’s Kwaku Donkor also saw red on 77 minutes, but Eastleigh couldn’t capitalise.

Woking 5-0 Gateshead: Osude’s Brace Caps Cards’ Rout

Woking thrashed Gateshead 5-0 at The Laithwaite Community Stadium, extending their unbeaten run to four. Aiden O’Brien slotted in on 11 minutes,

Tariq Hinds rifled home on 24 minutes, and Jamie Andrews tucked in on 61 minutes. Sub Joshua Osude scored within a minute of coming on (72’) and added another on 89 minutes, leaving Gateshead flatter than a pancake rolled by a steamroller.

Yeovil Town 1-3 York City: Minstermen Spoil Glovers’ Day

York City gave new boss Stuart Maynard a winning start, beating managerless Yeovil Town 3-1 at Huish Park. Ollie Pearce’s 25th-minute penalty and Ollie Banks’ 34th-minute strike set the tone.

Luke McCormick pulled one back for Yeovil Town on 77 minutes, but Jake Wannell’s own goal on 83 minutes sealed their fate.

York City’s resurgence adds spice to the play-off race.
